Documenting Culture

A series of publications.
‘Ev’ is a series of four publications that document the culture of Everton fans over a specific period of time. The collection also includes multiple postcard style ‘Ev’ branded posters and items such as gimmick season tickets.

The four magazines all focus on different aspects of fans’ support.

The first issue, ‘Ev’, includes personal experiences of young Everton fans, who haven’t seen any real success in their years following the club. It includes match day routines and quotes picked up from in and around the ground.

The second issue ‘There Are Places I’ll Remember’ is a photographic documentation of Goodison Park and the surrounding areas like the pubs and shops, on a non -  matchday, in the stadium’s penultimate season.

The ‘Corrupt’ issue is an immediate response to the intial 10 point deduction Everton recieved from the Premier League. It documents the initial protests that occured at the first match since the points deduction.

The final issue, ‘Tribalism’ discusses football tribalism, what connects fans to their club, particulalry those who are less successful than others, the relationship between different tribes, (supporters of different teams) and the importance of passing down the support for these clubs within families.
